Proper Stone Cleaning ---- Abraham Yearout Biography

Abraham Yearout was born in Knox County, Tennessee on Jan. 17th, 1844. Son of David and Elizabeth Yearout.

Abraham did not have much of a childhood due to the Civil War. Yearout grew up quickly joining the Union Army with the 3rd Tennessee Infantry under Company E. While in his three years in the war, he was captured by the Confederate Army where he spend around one year in Andersonville, Libby, and Beels Prison.

Abraham married Caroline Greer who was from Granger Co. Tennessee on September 27th, 1867. Together they would have 5 children; William, Ida May, Frank, David, and Mary Belle.  Only William, Ida, and Frank lived longer than their father.

Mr. Yearout would move around from place to place following his time in the war. However, around 1920, Abraham would move to Henry County, Missouri. He was 76 years old at the time of his move, and he was too weak to do anything. It was said in his obituary which was printed in The Clinton Eye on the 22nd of May in 1930, that he was an avid churchgoer. However he was not able to go now, and this was made known to the church and First Methodist Church Minister made sure that he received regular pastoral visits.

Ten years later Yearout would pass in 1930. His funeral was held at his home on North Fourth St. Rev. W.H.Wolfe conducted the services and Abraham was buried in Englewood Cemetery.
